Rookie grad student here at top 50. Where should I shoot to publish to become a respected econometric theorist in order of preference (1,2,3,...). I heard Econometrica is hard to get in if you're not in top 10 with contacts, or already an established name, so I'd like to work my way down. Subspecialization, not sure yet, time series, panel data, nonparametrics, aggregation models, stochastic processes etc. but nothing bayesian (I don't like it, MCMC too black-boxy. Sims doesn't convince me).
