Do people become less productive (in research) as they age?
I see some Profs, they are 60 years old (or more), they can not even run a bloody regression. They do not read papers, yet they seem to have some a big ego, and sometimes show off. They wait for PhD students to write some papers, so that they put their names on them.
I can not believe that these people (at least some of them) were so dumb when they were younger, unless if they were always able to find someone to do the work for them.
So, the question is, at which age does our research productivity diminish?
I can see that most footballers become less good when they cross 30, so, would it be a fair point to say that researchers become less productive after 40-45-50 years old because of ageing?
