The new issue of JAERE is out. It seems that theorists have dominated the first three issues. Although many of these papers are written by big names, I doubt whether they will be widely read and cited. This field is heavily leaning towards empirics. JAERE has been a big disappointment in attracting top empiricists. In comparison, the quality of JEEM papers is still amazingly good. Below is a comparison of the most recent issues:

Which journal should be the top field in environmental economics? I am not convinced that JAERE can claim that.
