1st yr out of lrm at vvlrm tt I had few bad experiences. But I think realistically at least half was inexperience in writing well and concise and being clear of my contribution.
Fast forward another 4 years and I have multiple good hits and have gotten quite good and writing and selling my point.
So I have best research idea of my career last spring and feel it was executed nearly perfectly.
Just got top field decision after 5 months:
One referee could not even find time to write report but just 'consulted' with editor. Second ref gave half page review where he altered and simplified our results and then stated 'see this is just xxx from aer 1999'. Of course our main contribution was extending xxx in the way he then reversed.
