I'm second year econ PhD, passed comps and now choosing field/s. I want to empirical research. Which fields/sub-fields within economics have an increasing demand on the job market and what are some of the emerging areas? I have not chosen my fields but are drawn to labor, trade, macro etc. Also, is structural analysis more in demand than applied empirics? Thanks.
